WHAT WE DO

The thematic intervention areas of RCSC include civil society capacity development, conflict prevention and peace building, inclusion of hard to reach and marginalized communities and social groups, women empowerment, advocacy, human rights and democratic governance.


The major target groups and constituencies of RCSC are: women and traditional women groups, influential community (including Mootes and Chimesas), religious leaders, government, CSOs and girls. 


Promoting advocacy on girls’ access to quality education in Sidama region


Nov 2022 - Nov 2025

The project aims to improve access to quality education for girls in 12 targeted schools via community sensitization, creation of girls' friendly school environment, advocacy campaign targeting customary and religious institutions and government bodies, facilitation of capacity building support to school communities and local level education sector staff, girls advocacy alliance and prevention of gender based violence.


Empowering Peace Actors to Strengthen Social Cohesion and Peaceful Coexistence in Sidama and SEPRs

The project aims at reducing inter- and intra-community violence in Southern Ethiopia (Kolme woreda and Segen Zuria of Konso zone, Ale zone and Garduala zone) and Hawassa Zuria woreda of Sidama region.  It is crucial to strengthen the capacity of key actors in establishing sustainable peace as to prevent displacement due to violent inter-communal conflicts.

Strengthen non-violent approaches for conflict resolution in Central Ethiopiaa

The project focuses on increasing community awareness on the constitutional and administrative procedures to address community grievances in Misirak Meska and Mareko special woredas of Gurage Zone of Central Ethiopia Region.


Promoting peaceful coexistence and Harmony among peoples in SNNPRS

The project aimed to contribute to the restoration of peaceful co-existence and harmonious relations among target communities via cultivation of peace culture and democratic governance in Karat and Segen zuria woredas of Konso zone, Burji, Amaro, Derashe and Alle special woredas, Dilla city of Gedio zone, Mareko and Meskan woredas of Guraghe zone of Central Ethiopia, Hawassa zuria and Wondo Genet woredas, and Hawassa city. The cooperation took also place with 3 universities. 


Enhancing Women Rights Organizations and CSOs women leaders' participation in peace building  in Sidama

The project aims to have strategies, skills and tools that enable them to support women leaders and aspirants to actively participate in peace building process in Hawassa city, Dale and Wondo Genet woredas of Sidama.


Enhancing CSOs Capacity for Better Citizen State Engagement in Sidama and SNNPR

The project enhanced organizational capacity of 11 CSOs in Sidama with professional manpower and accountable systems that respond to needs and rights of citizens; (2) promoted partnerships and collaboration among CSOs, between CSOs and community, and between CSOs and government for better cooperation.

The project aimed at improving businesspersons’ perceptions of the economic security situation via strengthening communication and strained relationships among businesspersons and their communities within the ethnically diverse cities of Sheshemane and Hawassa cities.

Pastoralist Women Empowerment Project in South Omo Zone- Bena-Tsemay woreda

The purpose of this project was to empower pastoralist women in Bena-Tsemay woreda of South Omo zone in the former SNNPR through public awareness and increased access to livelihood choices and opportunities. The project achieved this through provision of technical, institutional and financial support that helped them effectively manage such initiatives and thereby reduce their vulnerability to environmental and deep rooted adverse socio-cultural factors which persisted among pastoralist communities.

Reaching the Un-reached Social Groups in SNNPR

The program aims to address the needs of under-served OVC such as street children, children of destitute families keen for street life, children with disability and children who denied preschool education opportunity. Envisaged program support services to address this problem thus is classified into a number of subcomponents bearing in mind type and nature of the support services required to such OVC groups.
